Clitoral Surgery

Surgery that removes unnecessary clitoral hood tissue to expose the clitoris, helping sexual sensitivity and hygiene

Clitoral surgery removes unnecessary clitoral hood tissue and exposes the clitoris, helping sexual sensitivity and hygiene.

The clitoris is a woman's main erogenous zone; when it is covered by the hood, stimulation during sex is dulled and it becomes difficult to reach orgasm. Even difficult adhesion removal is possible, and the surgery is done with fine detail so that no surgical marks remain. It takes about 30 minutes under sedation or local anaesthesia, and you go home the same day. Recovery takes 2 weeks.

Why UROGYN considers the shape of the clitoris so important!

The clitoris is a woman's main erogenous zone. When it is covered by the clitoral hood, stimulation during sex is dulled and it becomes difficult to reach orgasm.

CHECKLIST

Clitoral surgery may suit you if

  • your sexual sensitivity is weak or you have anorgasmia
  • the upper part of your labia minora often itches
  • discharge often builds up around your clitoris
  • your clitoris often has an unpleasant odour

Surgery that exposes the clitoris naturally

Three effects of clitoral surgery

  1. Diagram comparing a clitoris covered by the hood with an exposed clitoris

    Heightened female sexual sensation

With the clitoris no longer covered by the hood, stimulation during foreplay increases.

  2. Diagram showing how stimulation reaches an exposed clitoris

    Greater satisfaction in married life

Clitoral orgasm in the woman increases sexual satisfaction for the couple.

  3. Diagram showing debris around the clitoris being reduced

    Better hygiene

Less debris and discharge stays trapped around the clitoris, so hygiene becomes easier.

AFTERCARE

After clitoral surgery

  1. The day after surgery

Start sitz baths from the next day.

    • Fill a basin with lukewarm (slightly cool) water deep enough to cover your bottom, dissolve a 500-won-coin-sized amount of cleansing solution (Clinosan) in it, and take a 10-minute sitz bath morning and evening for 2 weeks.
    • After the sitz bath, wash your hands well and apply Vaseline ointment to the surgical wound for 10 days.
    • Medicine is prescribed for 5 to 7 days. Stop at once and call us if you feel heartburn, retching or nausea.
    • Once you have taken all the prescribed painkillers, you may also take Tylenol or the period pain medicine you usually take.
    • Use an ice pack for 3 days, and wear well-ventilated clothing for 2 weeks.
  2. 2 to 3 days

Itching at the surgical area is normal.

Itchy discomfort at the surgical area 2 to 3 days after surgery is a normal sign that the area is healing well. If it is too uncomfortable, please come in to be seen.

  3. 1 to 3 weeks

You may have discharge and bleeding.

    • Wear a sanitary pad when you go out. At home, let the area air as much as possible.
    • If there is a lot of bleeding, press on the area with gauze or a dry towel. Do not throw the pad away; take a photo and send it to us on KakaoTalk.
  4. Week 3 and week 6

You need to come in to have your stitches removed.

    • How stitches behave varies from person to person depending on skin type, but we ask you to come in once in week 3 and once in week 6 after surgery to have them removed. The visit dates may change depending on your condition.
    • For surgery on the clitoris, labia minora, perineum, accessory folds or labia majora, apply regeneration cream to the surgical area after the stitches are removed.
    • After the stitches are removed, the labia minora and accessory fold area may look slightly open or itch. This is due to skin regeneration and is part of healing naturally while you apply the regeneration ointment, so never pull the area apart to look or touch it.
  5. 4 to 6 weeks

Sex is possible 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, once the director has checked your condition.

Use a lubricant the first time.

  6. 3 to 4 months

Swelling takes at least 3 to 4 months or more to go down.

This may vary depending on the patient's condition.

  7. Daily life

Please keep to these in daily life.

    • No alcohol, smoking, public baths or saunas for 4 weeks. You may shower from the next day.
    • While you recover, avoid rubbing the surgical area, wearing tight underwear or trousers, strenuous exercise, squatting, lifting heavy loads, crossing your legs and cycling. Take care not to put downward pressure on the area.
    • After a shower (sitz bath), dry the area with cool air, and after passing urine, pat the area dry gently.
  8. Call us if

Call the clinic if you have a strong burning feeling, chills, itching, pain, swelling or hives.

If you have any other questions, call the clinic or add the UROGYN Woman Clinic KakaoTalk channel and we will answer you one to one.
