A surgical method that reshapes stretched or widened labia minora for a woman's benefit
Labiaplasty corrects labia minora that have changed shape for various reasons, giving them a natural size, shape and colour that meet aesthetic standards.
The proportion of clitoris to labia minora is set at 1:1.5 or 1:2, and a suitable width is kept, taking into account the role of the labia minora and the chance of them stretching again. AFTERCARE
After labiaplasty
The day after surgery
Start sitz baths from the next day.
- Fill a basin with lukewarm (slightly cool) water deep enough to cover your bottom, dissolve a 500-won-coin-sized amount of cleansing solution (Clinosan) in it, and take a 10-minute sitz bath morning and evening for 2 weeks.
- After the sitz bath, wash your hands well and apply Vaseline ointment to the surgical wound for 10 days.
- Medicine is prescribed for 5 to 7 days. Stop at once and call us if you feel heartburn, retching or nausea.
- Once you have finished all the prescribed painkillers, it is fine to take Tylenol or the period pain medicine you usually take.
- Use an ice pack for 3 days, and wear well-ventilated clothing for 2 weeks.
2 to 3 days
Itching at the surgical area is a normal symptom.
Itchy discomfort at the surgical area 2 to 3 days after surgery is a normal sign that it is healing well. If it is very uncomfortable, please come in to see us.
1 to 3 weeks
You may have discharge and bleeding.
- Wear a sanitary pad when you go out. At home, let the area air as much as possible.
- If there is a lot of bleeding, press on the area with gauze or a dry towel. Do not throw the pad away; take a photo and send it to us on KakaoTalk.
Weeks 3 and 6
You need to come in to have the stitches removed.
- How stitches behave varies with your skin, but we ask you to come in once in week 3 and once in week 6 after surgery to have them removed. The visit dates may change depending on your condition.
- After the stitches are removed, apply a regenerating cream to surgical areas on the clitoris, labia minora, vaginal end, accessory folds and labia majora.
- If the labia minora and accessory folds look slightly open or itch after the stitches are removed, this is due to skin regeneration and is part of healing naturally as you apply the regenerating ointment. Never pull them apart to look or touch them.
4 to 6 weeks
Sex is possible 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, once the doctor has checked your condition.
Use a lubricant the first time.
3 to 4 months
Swelling takes at least 3 to 4 months or more to go down.
This may vary depending on the patient's condition.
Daily life
Please keep to these in daily life.
- No alcohol, smoking, public baths or saunas for 4 weeks. You may shower from the next day.
- While you recover, avoid rubbing the surgical area, wearing tight underwear or trousers, strenuous exercise, squatting, lifting heavy loads, crossing your legs and cycling. Take care not to put downward pressure on the area.
- After a shower (sitz bath), dry the area with cool air, and after passing urine, pat dry gently.
