Vulvar hair removal is a procedure that removes unwanted pubic hair to leave the Y-zone skin smooth.

Because hair roots regenerate strongly, using a laser to stop hair growth can give a semi-permanent result. It is divided into bikini, Brazilian, all-nude and anal hair removal, and done according to need. Vulvar skin is extremely thin and darker than other areas, so we use the Accento N device, which suits it. No anaesthesia is needed; it takes 30 to 40 minutes and you go home the same day.

AFTERCARE

Before and after hair removal

  1. Before treatment

    Shave 3 to 4 days before your visit.

    Shaving 3 to 4 days before your visit gives a better hair removal result.

  2. On the day

    You may shower, but do not rub the area.

    • You may shower on the day of treatment, but do not point the shower head directly at the area and do not rub it. Shower with lukewarm water, then dry with cool air.
    • If you have pain on the day, use an ice pack.
    • You may feel a stinging pain when you pass urine (do not be alarmed). Do not wipe; pat gently to dry.

  3. 2 to 5 days

    Redness may last for a while.

    • Swelling, pain, redness, slight bleeding and scabs may appear after treatment, and redness may last for about 2 to 5 days.
    • Rarely, side effects such as pigmentation, infection, inflammation or uneven skin texture may occur.
    • Using a regenerating cream and protecting the area from UV are important, and scabs must not be forced off. Depending on your skin, scabs may not form at all.

  4. After 1 week

    Sex, saunas, public bathhouses and exercise that makes you sweat a lot are possible 1 week after treatment.

  5. Every 3 to 4 weeks

    The next session is 3 to 4 weeks later.

  6. About hair removal

    These symptoms after hair removal are normal.

    • Black spots under the skin do not mean the hair removal failed. They are hairs that are already dead and will fall out naturally within a week to ten days, so do not pull them out or touch them.
    • It may itch or sting for a while.
    • Weakened hair roots grow back, but not thicker.
    • If folliculitis or blisters appear, do not burst them.

  7. Daily life

    Please keep to these in daily life.

    • To help the skin regenerate quickly, if you have a regenerating cream, apply a thin layer morning and evening for about 4 weeks. A regenerating cream can also be bought at the clinic; ask at the information desk if you would like one.
    • Take care with smoking and drinking for 3 days.
    • The skin is sensitive after treatment, so avoid harsh cosmetics, exfoliants, scrubs, hot packs, drinking and smoking.
    • Recovery time may vary with your skin condition and the strength of treatment.

  8. Call us if

    If unusual pain, oozing or severe swelling develops at the treated area, be sure to come to the clinic.

    • If an unusual reaction continues, contact the clinic at once.
    • Call the clinic if you have a strong burning feeling, chills, itching, pain, swelling or hives.

What do I do about the black hairs stuck under the skin after hair removal?
Black spots under the skin after hair removal do not mean it failed; they are hairs that are already dead. The roots fall out naturally after about a week to ten days, so do not pull them out or touch them.
When is numbing cream applied?
It gives the best pain relief after 60 minutes or more. If you come in with an hour to spare, pain can be greatly reduced. If you are busy, 30 minutes is the standard.
Is vulvar hair removal different from hair removal elsewhere on the body?
The skin of the labia majora is extremely thin and dark in colour, so it is very different from hair removal on other areas. If the laser energy is too low, the effect is small; if it is even slightly too strong, there is a lot of skin damage. Because the labia majora are dark, pain is severe and side effects such as blisters, pigmentation and loss of pigment are common.
