Vulvar hair removal is a procedure that removes unwanted pubic hair to leave the skin of the intimate area smooth.

Because hair roots regenerate strongly, stopping hair growth with a laser can give a semi-permanent result. It is divided into bikini, Brazilian, all-nude and anal hair removal, and the area is chosen according to your needs. Vulvar skin is extremely thin and darker than other areas, so we use the Accento N, a device suited to it. No anesthesia is needed; it takes 30–40 minutes, and you go home the same day.

AFTERCARE

Before and after hair removal

  1. Before the procedure

    Shave 3–4 days before your visit.

    Shaving 3–4 days before your visit gives a better result.

  2. On the day

    You may shower, but do not rub the area.

    • You may shower on the day of the procedure, but do not point the shower head directly at the area or rub it. Shower with lukewarm water, then dry the area with cool air.
    • If you have pain on the day, use an ice pack.
    • You may feel a stinging pain when you pass urine (please do not be alarmed). Do not wipe; gently pat the area dry.

  3. 2–5 days

    Redness may last for a while.

    • After the procedure you may have swelling, pain, redness, slight bleeding and scabs, and the redness may last for about 2–5 days.
    • Rarely, side effects such as pigmentation, infection, inflammation or uneven skin texture may occur.
    • Using a regenerating cream and protecting the area from UV light are important. Do not force scabs off. Depending on your skin, scabs may not form at all.

  4. After 1 week

    Sex, saunas, jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouses) and exercise that makes you sweat heavily are fine from 1 week after the procedure.

  5. Every 3–4 weeks

    Sessions are spaced 3–4 weeks apart.

  6. What to expect

    These symptoms are normal after hair removal.

    • Black dots under the skin do not mean the hair removal has failed. They are dead hairs that will fall out naturally within a week to ten days, so do not pull them out or touch them.
    • The area may itch or sting temporarily.
    • Weakened hairs may grow back, but they will not be thicker.
    • If folliculitis spots or blisters appear, do not burst them.

  7. Daily life

    Please follow these guidelines in daily life.

    • To help your skin regenerate quickly, apply a thin layer of regenerating cream, if you have one, morning and evening for about 4 weeks. Regenerating cream is also available to buy at the clinic; please ask at reception.
    • Avoid smoking and drinking for 3 days.
    • Your skin is sensitive after the procedure, so avoid harsh cosmetics, exfoliants, scrubs, hot compresses, alcohol and smoking.
    • Recovery time may vary depending on your skin condition and the intensity of the procedure.

  8. When to call us

    If you develop unusual pain, oozing or severe swelling in the treated area, be sure to come in to the clinic.

    • If an unusual reaction persists, contact the clinic at once.
    • Call the clinic if you have a strong feeling of heat, chills, itching, pain, swelling or hives.

It gives the best pain relief after 60 minutes or more, so if you arrive an hour early, pain can be greatly reduced. If you are short of time, the standard is 30 minutes.
Is vulvar hair removal different from hair removal elsewhere on the body?
The skin of the labia majora is extremely thin and dark, so hair removal there is very different from other areas. If the laser energy is too low, the effect is limited; if it is even slightly too strong, it can cause significant skin damage. Because the labia majora are dark, pain is severe and side effects such as blisters, pigmentation and loss of pigment are common.
